A Crystal-Clear Carafe

Because of the contours of a wine carafe, it can be difficult to clean, unless you have a rather odd-shaped brush. And typically, you will be decanting bold red wines that are sure to leave a stain. I read this trick in Patricia Wells’ The French Kitchen Cookbook, which she learned from restaurateurs, and it really does work, depending on the minerality of your water:

Truc (Tip): Fill your carafe with cold water and leave for several days.
